The roof connection changed the plan in real time.
THE STORY
The kitchen was supposed to stay.
The roof had other plans.
The original design kept the existing kitchen untouched while the new addition rose behind it, including a living room with a ceiling more than 15 feet high.
Once framing began, the actual roof heights and beam conditions did not match the connection shown on the plans. To create the correct pitch and tie the new roof into the house, part of the roof above the kitchen had to be opened.
Then the weather changed.
A sudden storm reached the exposed area and damaged the kitchen below. We immediately removed the wet insulation and cabinets, brought in drying equipment, protected the open structure, and reorganized the work so framing could continue safely.

Building the New Footprint
We started with excavation, foundation, and structural framing. The new bedrooms, office, primary suite, and high-ceiling living room went up from the ground while the existing house stayed connected to the work.
PHASE 02
Working Through the Roof
The new roof pitch didn't align cleanly with the existing structure, so we adjusted the framing in the field. Working section by section, we connected the roof properly while keeping the house protected during construction.
